Museum of the Middle Ages Epee Show
LIZ SAYS: The Museum of the Middle Ages is in a great old roman bath. It's cool and dry when it's pouring rain and rather warm. The space is light and airy and the exhibitions are usually staged in a very open way, so it never feels crowded once you get past the bottleneck at the entrance. You have to buy your ticket then, cross the line back over to the very front to check your umbrella and bag,so it makes for a confusing mess, at the beginning. Once you pass the musty stuff at the beginning, the temporary show breaks out into the main open rooms with stone floors and windows to let in the natural light. The show was on swords in reality, myths and legends. It had the swords of Joan of Arc and Saint George and a video of Monty Python's Knights Who Say Kneep. I decided not to try handling a sword as I did not want together used to settling my disputes with steel!
