Pink Leaf Tree

LIZ SAYS: I just noticed the most amazing thing. A tree is just leafing out and its leaves are pale cream to pink. The tree does not stay this color, but its really sweet in spring.

  1. LIZ, this tree is perfect for an idea I've been cooking on the backburner for awhile. It is hence named FlutterTree, and as near as I can figure out, it's an ashleaf maple. If you know for certain what species it is, feel free to correct me, or if you can describe its seeds in any way I would be most grateful, since that's the only piece of evidence I can't gather from the picture. Whatever it is, it's exactly the sort of tree that I (and a lot of other people) have been looking for.

  2. Oops, seems I spoke too soon. I kind of assumed you were in the U.S., since what I can make out from the top says, "Madison, Wisconsin". More research has identified this tree as Toona sinensis, also known as Chinese Mahogany.

    1. Thanks for your interest. Yes, we moved from Wisconsin to Paris, so we actually notice little things like this. I think it is pink in the autumn, too. Thanks for looking it up ;-}.
