Valadon Utrillo and TV

Today was really gorgeous. The weather has been beautiful of late. On the last rainy rainy day we went to an exhibition at the Pinacotheque de Paris to see the Valadon Utrillo show. It was a very odd juxtaposition of the two painters. Valdon veering towards more color and doing lots of nudes, Utrillo using very nuetral colors and painting almost exclusively Parisian architecture. Valadon did nothing for me. Utrill on the other hand, showed me a Paris that I did not know. Long views down streets with almost no people on them, everything quiet, muted and nuetral. A very calm, quiet Paris. I began to see something that had always been infront of me. The long shots of Paris's distinctive architecture ending with a curve in the street and a dome or steeple. They had the feeling of a landscape covered with fresh snow. It was very revealing and it gave me a new vantage point from which to see and feel.
My balcony is tres jolie! It is very happy, It is covered with several colors of pink geraniums, a bougainvillea, jasmine and small olive tree. My poppy produces a flower every two weeks.
One bizarre thing for an American is the TV here. There are stations from all over the french speaking world, of course, but there is also a Chinese station that is mostly in English. Russia, the Philippines, Bulgaria, Al Jazerra in 3 languages, several countries in Africa including the Congo which does not seem to broadcast on a regular basis. It is very intersting, just to see what people in other parts of the world think is interesting, presentable, newsworthy. Football rules the world! A win in England is news all over the world from what I can tell. Eurovision is a multicountry song competition that has a bizarre combination of national pride, sexy sexy dancers and just plain pop stars.
The US contributes 2 God stations and Turner Movie Classics to our package.
While TV isn't the first thing you want to indulge in here, it is hilarious and curious.
