DINNER IN THE NUIT BLANC
LIZ SAYS:After Mozart, we were left hungry. We headed to our neck of the woods, over by Notre Dame, thinking that there may be more places to eat open. It was after 11:00. Even though Paris says up late, real restaurants open and close at conventional eating hours. So, 11:30 is pretty late. We strolled the darkened streets until we came to a bridge and there was an open brasserie. On the bridge were these containers filled with colored light and large video screens with flashing colors and abstract scenes. We watched the colors change as we ate. It was what I love about Paris. It turned out to be the Nuit Blanc, which despite the name actually meant night of the lights. As it turned out people all over the city could spot strange lights, like UFO's emanating from light installations. We thought "Oh, we are so sated with the beauty of Mozart, we can't even really appreciate this. We will come back tomorrow."
