MOZART AND THE NUIT BLANC

LIZ SAYS: First, I must apologize for the quality of the photos, it was my first night with my new camera.Dick was sweet enough to know that what I really needed for my birthday was an excellent small camera. It is actually a brilliant little thing, but I decided to wear my contacts to see the show, so then it was difficult to read the settings. Enough of that.

Mozart, L'Opera Rock was the most fantastic thing I have seen to date. It had everything ballet, time traveling stage design and fabulous costuming, modern dance, references to everything including Sunday in the Park with George. The music tended to sound a lot like Queen, but then I always liked Queen. I mean how audacious can you get? Go there!
The man in the center with the sparkling sequin jacket is Mozart. He was a fun representation, he had the silly laugh from the Tom Dulce Mozart (Amadeus movie), but he also moved beautifully. Large, flowing movements, often dancing without dancing, throwing his head back while singing, doing the most rococo courtesies, and skipping from scene to scene. His Mozart was a tad manic depressive, but clearly fun to be around! He suffered greatly when his father, benefactor and mother died. He was beautiful but Frederic in his very french way had a quibble with him. "But, he speaks French with an Italian accent!"

At this point the Muses are talking to Mozart and he is deciding what to do. The box on the stage was a little garret like place, his room with a bed, but he talked to the muses in the sky.

Just a bit more Puff and Pomp, notice the Gaultier inspired costumes.
