I contracted a sinus infection and between that and the rain, it feels like winter. But, its not very cold yet and that feels strange. Madison,Wisconsin to Paris,France.
I just looked, its about 10 degrees warmer here in the day (60's) than in Wisconsin and about 5 degrees warmer at night.
It's hard to explain because the difference is not that big at the moment, but knowing what will happen, my expectations change my current perception. I know it won't snow more than an inch, and if it does snow, it won't stick for more than a day. I know I won't see my breath or steam up my glasses when I go outside, gloves are a nice fashion statement but not absolutely necessary.
So while we get used to the lack of cold, the French dress like they are in frigid weather. They have wool coats, scarves wrapped at least 3 times around their necks, which is a very good look, especially on men. I'm working on getting Dick to wear one, but frankly it's still a little warm to us.
Thigh high boots that make everyone look like a Musketeer are all the rage, that and the scarves make for a dashing look on tall women. Short women like me would look lost in a bundle of cloth and leather.
Now that my nez is clear, and the rain is supposed to stop for a few days, I will be out shooting photos again.
Next Sunday I am having a "What I have Learned in France, So Far" dinner party. I've had to buy some things for the kitchen.

This is one of those things. It is called a Simeo Delicook. I found it when I was looking for the French equivalent of a crock pot. Its great, although all the instructions are in French and I is testing my limits trying to understand what half the instructions mean. You can start a dish in it, sauteing onions, etc. then add the other ingredients and close the top. It cooks everything and then goes to warm until you turn it off. So, you don't need to watch it, it cooks faster than a crack pot and you don't need to start dishes in another pot. The nonstick liner lifts out to clean. And it looks like a little atomic turkey! I love this thing.
