I am working on a big fete for tomorrow. The "What I Learned In France, So Far" Dinner for Adrian and Frederic.Half of the humor in the invitation probably doesn't make sense to you, basically, its me and my Franglish, presenting myself as Marie Antoinette. I did not forget my husband, I just could not find a picture of her husband! Gee, wonder why? Anyway, they call Sarkosy "Sarko" here and they also have referred to Carla Bruni as the new Marie Antoinette, hence the signature.
I am in the process of making a real french meal! So much work!
The Menu includes dishes I have had or a reasonable facsimile, after all, I can't just copy, I have to improve or riff.
Prosciutto Wrapped Foie Gras (looks like ham wrapped pellets) with Mango chutney and Fresh Fig
Chevre Filled Roasted Red Peppers on Green Pea Puree with light Citrus Dressing
Beouf Bourguignon with Roasted Carrots and Boiled Potatoes
Baby Romaine quarter with Marinated Clementine Dressing and Roasted Pine Nuts & Beets
Dessert- Variety bought from the Pastisserie down the street (can't beat it)
Mustard Seed Encrusted Cheese and Raisin Covered Cheese we bought in Dijon area
A White, Rose and Red wine
Bread from the Boulangerie from downstairs
A proper french meal from amuse bouche to cheese course.
I won't be able to eat half of it but, that never mattered. If I can make Frederic the true Frenchman lick his lips and smile, I'll be in heaven.
