So Far

LIZ SAYS:Today is Armistice Day. It celebrates the end of World War 2. It was a holiday, most people got a day off from work. It was partly sunny and great to get out and walkabout with Dick and our friend Frederic. We went down to the Champs Elysees for coffee and walked all over aimlessly enjoying the beautiful city and the chilly beauty that is Paris. The new Apple store, the first in Paris, was packed. the Champs Elysees was as busy as usual with tourists and roaming shoppers. There were impressive break dancers working the crowds, but you could tell it was a holiday. It was less crowded, we walked and talked about "Paris,America,France, why this and why that." One of the things I really like about Frederic is that he is very forthcoming and we don't have to agree about things, so we can actually have deep conversations and fun at the same time. He showed us little passageways and streets we had walked past and never noticed. "This is supposedly the littlest street in Paris, It is the Fishing Cat Street" he told us as we gazed down a tiny passage with 3 old street lamps and a motorbike parked in the way. It was something like the Rue de PĂȘche de Chat. He is full of bits of info like that. We looked at some photos on exhibit. They were supposed to capture the souls or essences of the animals. Frederic entertained us with his opinion on the blurry black and white photos. He was not impressed.
The photo below is me before my first metro ride. Everyone has told me I must go down in that hole and ride the squeaky train to be truly Parisien. Yeah, right. I can't say I feel any more Parisien. I am not a fan of underground travel. I'd much rather walk and see the sun and the sky than be stuffed in a hole with the squeaky train.
So I can say, been there, done that, blah, blah, blah.

Oh, the dinner party went off without a hitch. Although I can't say much for trying to prepare a 3 course meal for 4 soup to nuts in a dorm sized fridge!
