Stuck inside in Mobile with the Memphis Blues Again
You know it's bad when I'm reduced to quoting Dylan.
Tonight was going to be my big soiree. Its the AWG Black and White Gala. I even bought a black and white hat. A great little bit of fluff, just the kind of things they do so well here.
But, a couple of days ago I picked up some stomach bug, so rather than be a party pooper, I am updating the blog. I had a fabulous lunch of plain pasta and watered down coke, a local remedy. Dinner, rice, the thing everyone else has recommended.
Evidently, if poisoned a high bland carb diet is the cure.
So even though I'm missing the biggest party I've been invited to to date, I do have some great photos from the "ArtParis" Exhibit at the Grand Palais. Everytime I enter the Grand Palais, I marvel at its beauty. A lovely glass and steel art nouveau (1900 anyway) interior that flatters anything that enters it.
Last year we went to the Exhibit and it was mostly sculpture. This year mostly painting. It also included guests this year like Indonesia and Africa and Finland.
There was a lot of the L.A. brash and noisy. But there were some great quiet pieces. I was frankly bored with that, but maybe its because I've been to L.A. and seen the electric boredom firsthand. L.A. art in Paris is strange, it loses its meaning. I watched a sort of visual diary on David Hockney where he goes to New York. He seems to kind of lose his meaning in New York. No one seems to understand him, they see him as the absolute personification of L.A., how can he even be in N.Y.C.?
LA art in Paris, the pinks don't even match.
Okay, so, enough of that. Here are some photos of things most of which, I liked. A couple, I didn't.
