LIZ SAYS: The other thing that struck me was that spring is springing! The most protected geraniums are blooming, there are flowering buds on the trees! Everyone was out, there was not a empty seat in any cafe that has the glorious fortune of sunlight. I was happy, it was a great walk, then Paris played her hand... .
There was a poster which Dick deciphered, today was the day of the Chinese New Year’s Day Parade in the 13th, which just happened to be where we were. Okay, let’s go this way.
Joy Luck! First we heard the drums. Doong Dung dunga dung... dung, then we saw the red and gold banners. Hello, we were in the midst of the Chinese New Year’s parade. It was glorious. Drum corps from all over and then the dragons. The fabulous Chinese dragons that I had only seen in movies dancing and bowing, flowing and staring, right in front of me. It was exhilarating, so much fun, I hadn’t brought my camera, I only had my phone. I recorded everything I could and ran from vantage point to vantage point.
Everyone with a camera was vying for a shot. But, being French everyone gave way after a shot or two. I was wonderful. It reminded me why this city is so wonderful. Out for a walk, noticing the little things when Bang, Bam, Boom, life comes shining through, Kissing you in the face, big and wet.
