BBC NEWS OLYMPICS July 29, 2012
LIZ SAYS: I only saw a tiny bit of the opening ceremony. Being in Amsterdam, we were in a hotel. The Dutch eat dinner really early compared to the French. In Paris, we eat between 7:30-9, in Amsterdam you have to have your table at 6. Since I don't drink in Amsterdam, it makes for a fairly early night. TL was spending the night at a hotel in Spa, Belgium where there is a 24 hr. race. So, I just edited photos and prepared stuff for LizAndDick and the demiSouviners writings.
I didn't even notice what was on the tv, even though I almost always have it on.
I heard the commentary on BBC news this morning. Evidently, the talk of India is this woman who gate crashed the Indian contingency's procession. They all had on grey and yellow, this woman was wearing a big red jacket and aqua pants. She stood out and was right in the front. India feels shamed by it.
The Brits were wondering whether this reflected good or bad on England.
And the two middle eastern commentators argue whether politics is ever, really, not part of the Olympics. Romney made quite a big ugly splash with the Brits, but they figure it's typical American Republican foreigner bashing.
I just love watching the BBC version of the news over here. It's so entertaining!
