Verbs and Video

LIZ SAYS:We've got our noses to the grindstone trying to learn 3 tenses of our first 2 verbs.
Geez, you don't go to school for a few decades and all of a sudden everything is so friggin' hard. At least we don't have to live in a dorm! Yeah, I know boo hoo! The waiters at the cafe get a kick out of our practices. Yesterday, the waiter corrected our pronunciation of shoes and smiled. He let down his 'I'm a gruff Parisien waiter" facade and actually smiled.
We saw two great installations at the Pompidou Centre. If you don't know what the building looks like, its all glass. It is worth googling it to see the building!
IF YOU LIVE IN PARIS, DON'T READ THIS! GO SEE IT.
So the best installation was on the ground floor. All of the windows were covered by black curtains. the carpet was red. there was a large video screen. It showed a film shot in 70 mm. It was supposed to recall the train trip that took Bobby Kennedy's body back to Washington,D.C.. It was one continuous shot from the perspective of the train looking out at the countryside with people staring at it. The people were dressed in the 60's clothing looking solemn, so threre just to see the train, some just stopped what they were doing. It was beautiful and you got caught up in the rhythmic sound of the train. Then, it ended, the curtains came up automatically and all of the action outside of the Pompidou seemed unreal. There are always crowds and street performers outside and it is quite scene. It seems normal on the way into the building. When the curtains came up it seemed unreal and beautiful. It was a very strange effect.
If you get a chance to see it, it is well worth the twenty minutes it takes.
