Everything is crumpets and cream

LIZ SAYS:Everything is crumpets and cream. Granted, I’m no fan of crumpets and cream is a little heavy ;-}.
The contractor has put in an hour or two. If he took a half day, he would be finished but that’s just my opinion and it counts for naught. But everything is manageable. The missing elements are basically cosmetic, except for the bathroom doors, but can I complain. No. Dick’s magnificently entertaining uncle came for a visit with his delightful granddaughter and her very humorous dad. We took them for a short stroll in our little piece of heaven and they enjoyed it very much. The apartment is pretty hot on these 90 degree days. This is the third in a row. Sunny in the day, noisy at night. That kind of city noise that some people hate, but I love. Opening the windows at night and letting in a breeze, fans blowing, people talking, laughing, girls screaming each others names and laughing loudly, motorcycles that need mufflers, cars honking the our country won a game in the world cup honk. Its such a difference from our quite house in Madison. The birds don’t know what to make of it and sometimes I half expect Brando to come screaming Stellllla! But no road rumblers, or loud rap coming from the cars. Just a city in summer expressing itself. Yeah, okay, I miss air conditioning, but on balance the sounds of the city win out. The Fete de Musique paraded past our windows about 2 weeks ago. I took a couple of picutes but could not get the belly dancers, they were playing Brazilian music. The Fete de Musique is a night when bands play all over the city on almost every street corner and/or square. Its a great idea, and it makes for some great clashes of sound mid-block. Every kind of music, everywhere. Viva la musique!
