David Hockney IPhones and IPads Exhibition
LIZ SAYS: Two days ago we saw a brilliant show, in more than one sense of the word. It was at the Yves St. Laurent Foundation. The place was all black inside for the show, I'm sure. The walls were covered with bright Matisse-like drawings on backlit glowing IPones and IPads. Some of them re-enacted the action of the drawing, some of them were static. There was also a video of Hockney drawing on an IPad with his face reflected in the screen. It was bright, clever and innovative. He emailed the whole show to the gallery and said that there was no need to email it back. Of course, there were about fifty $500-2000 machines on the walls, but the actual artistic material was emailed. Brilliant!
