and the seduction of me me
LIZ SAYS: Thinking about the Peugeot plant closing and the subsequent layoffs made for an uneasy feeling as we entered the Paris Auto Show. I don’t know whether the decision to go mid-week accounted for the small crowd or maybe it was the rain, but I half expected the huge autopalooza to be kind of grim. Until we walked through the doors.
Color ruled. Fantastic candy colors glazed tiny little electric mobiles. I was in love. And, hey, I don’t care about cars at all. But, these were actually cute. Mercedes had the coolest blue
Of course, Dick was the entire motivating factor. I knew he was dying to see the show when I casually suggested we ride our bikes out to the Port de Versaille Expo Center.
It was because of him, that I took photos of the racing cars he gleefully pointed out. Man, was he happy dragging me through 5 buildings of cars. I did perk up when it came to the cute little electric trucks and cars. I don’t know why, but, I really find them adorable in a Tonka truck kind of way. And, yes, I do realize that calling cars cute is way too girly, but its Paris! It just happens. I mean, pink cars!
Oh, and there were more than just cars. Peugeot showed off some mega cool bikes and a astounding grand piano.
Then, there was the unfortunately named Weez, a seriously ugly little car rivaled only by the Parrot. The Parrot looked like a collapsed version of VW’s Thing from years ago.
There are a lot of photos. So, enjoy!
